What I ate on my way to school???

According to the title, one might assume that the author is a student. Yes, you are correct my friend. I am a student. You may also know that I'm a student because of my profile. That picture on the left was just taken recently (2 years ago, hehehe!!!...recently...)

This happened not too long ago (maybe a few days ago), I just wanted to share my experience with you fellow foodies. So, the setting of the place where I ate is at SM Sta. Mesa. (Foreign readers, for your benefit it's in the Philippines. A wonderful place, please find time to visit this place.) Where was I? Oh yeah! I am looking for a new food creation. A new thing to be placed on my mouth. And I stumbled upon this place....ooohhh!!! It's KFC. I ordered a new item on their menu, It's called the KFC BBQ Shredder.
I asked the cashier what is the taste of their BBQ shredder? The guy told me (in a scripted kind of way of describing the sandwich), "Sir, the new KFC BBQ shredder po, it's made out of pulled chicken strips, marinated in BBQ sauce, then placed in a bun with lettuce and tortilla chips". More or less, this is the way of how he told me the taste of the sandwich. Then I was like -_- okay... But I tried it anyway because it only costs me 85 pesos (55 pesos ala carte, 70 pesos with drink, 85 pesos with fries and drink) why so cheap? And the picture looks yummy, just look at it!!! But you know what they say, looks can be deceiving. Check this out...
Almost there!!! By this point, I'm quite impressed by the hard paper covering and the sticker that says the name of the sandwich. Drum roll please.....

BOOM!!!!! by this point my face was like this: 0_0. What happened to the picture of a perfect pulled chicken sandwich? It looks like a canned tuna endorsed by  Derek Ramsay or Dingdong Dantes. And the tortilla chips inside, mind you it doesn't look like tortilla chips at all. Not even close. It looks like fried Lumpia/Spring roll wrapper placed inside the bun for that extra crunch.

Taste: It tastes like mayonnaise and BBQ sauce. The chicken, a bit. The sauces are overflowing when you took a bite. It even entered my mind if the chicken were just leftovers. EHH!!! Maybe i'm just exaggerating. (they might press charges against me, hehe, kidding!). but it's not that bad for 85 pesos. It's a decent meal if you don't want to starve. That's the answer for my question earlier why is the sandwich kinda cheap? 55 pesos- ala carte? Not the standard price for KFC. When I'm eating the BBQ shredder, it kinda reminds me of the cheese top burger. I'm not gonna say anything, let your imaginations take flight!

It's still up too you to judge this sandwich. I am just expressing my feelings about this sandwich, maybe the innovators can read this and may improve in their creations to give justice to Colonel Sanders. This is just my honest opinion, i don't anything against this sandwich. Maybe some of you loves this food so much. I respect your opinion.

Okay... let's leave this behind and move on to another food: The KFC mac and cheese bites
This one is a keeper!!! I love KFC mac and cheese bites! Although I was hesitant to try it at first (it's quite obvious because it's been released a long time ago, and I only tasted it a few days ago) because i thought Mac and cheese is already heavy in the stomach, but then it will be cut into squares then fry it in hot oil!??!?!? that's some serious fattening piece of food.

My perceptions changed when I took the first bite. It was heaven inside my mouth. The savory, cheesy, fatty flavor inside those bites were harmoniously stimulating those taste buds of mine.

There are 5 pcs. of bites per order, or at least that's the quantity I got. So I concluded that it's 10 pesos per square for a total of 50 pesos (it's actually 49 pesos but you get the point).

So I was already full.

You thought that's it???? Did you read the name of the blog? Of course there's more...

Last but not the least, I headed to Gong Cha to finish my meal.
I ordered their Gong Cha Special Wintermelon Tea. Oh how I love this drink! It's fruity, mild version of a tea. It's topped with a generous amount of their special cream, a signature topping of Gong Cha. The cream is quite intriguing don't you think? It's sweet but not too sweet compared to happy lemon's cream topping. It's just right. I spent an hour or so in their booth to finish what I'm reading for my upcoming exam.

It's a wonderful gastronomical experience! I have an excuse to eat a lot because I have a blog to update. HAHA!!! i hope you can share your experience when you had/ having/ will have an excuse to eat a LOT.

Dynamite Roll and Potato Roll Craze!!!

When you hear the name "Dynamite Roll", what comes into your mind? Is it a Japanese food? Is it some kind of a sushi with a spicy sauce? Then your answer is right! BUT, when it comes to UST (University of Santo Tomas), a different dynamite roll will be served to you.
(It's blurry because it's a busy street)

This is the dynamite roll, UST's newest snack!!!

It is made with chili peppers (the green long ones that are not so spicy) but the seeds are taken out so it will not be too spicy, replaced the seeds with ground pork and bacon! Then it will be wrapped in a Lumpia wrapper or spring roll wrapper. Deep fried it until golden brown.

Then a thick layer of mayonnaise and cheese sauce will be drizzled on top of those delicious dynamite rolls. Voila!!!! A perfect snack. Dynamite rolls are common in UST but I recommend that you go to this particular store (Rosarito Street Corner Dapitan Street, in front of UST). A dynamite roll would cost you about 12 pesos but you couldn't just eat one. I usually order 2 rolls because 1 isn't enough.

Next stop: Potato Rolls

When you type the words "Potato Rolls" in Google, results will show a type of bread that has potato incorporated in it. But the one I'm talking about is this.....

AAAHHHHH!!!! POTATO ROLLS!!!! Just merely thinking of it makes me drool!!!!

How do you make one of these delicious creations? Well, basically it's easy. It's just mashed potatoes wrapped in a Lumpia wrapper or spring roll wrapper then deep fried until golden brown. Then drizzled with mayonnaise and cheese sauce. It's that easy. What makes it unique is the taste ... and maybe their concept. It's quite delicious, and heavy in the stomach. One roll will satisfy your craving and hunger. When I'm on-the-go, too busy to sit down and eat, I usually go for these babies because primarily it's cheap. A roll would cost you 15 pesos. Secondarily because it satisfies my hunger.

A friend of mine taught me this place, there are lots of stalls in Dapitan that would offer you dynamite and potato rolls, but this place truly delivers the best (so far). I don't know the name of the store, because the sign says that they're selling hamburgers but they're not.

If you want to taste these snacks, just go to UST, Dapitan Street, Then Rosarito Street (if you don't know that street just ask.. or if not, just look for a sea of people eating this stuff).

Dynamite Rolls and Potato Rolls.... Another Excuse For You To Eat A LOT!!!

Soon you will have an excuse to eat a lot!

Hi there fellow foodie!!!

It's been a long time since I started making posts here at blogspot. I started this food blog primarily because I am bored during the semestral break. And when I got back at school, I didn't have the luxury of time to make posts for you to enjoy since the demands of my school is really tough.

But now, (though my schedule is still tight) my passion for food is returning. There are lots of undiscovered places for foodies to explore. There are lots of snacks, meals that are yet to be laid on my taste buds. I wanted to continue what I have started. I want to show the whole world what Philippine cuisine is made of. I want to show the world that the Philippines is a great place (not just for eating). I want to share again my thoughts about the food I ate, and maybe you can share yours too!

I'm planning to start my blogging again this February, I'm not yet sure what date it is though because of my busy schedule.

Anyways, the important matter is I will be back soon... So check this site regularly, so you guys will have an excuse to eat a lot...
